At The Levy Dental Group, we value our community and as a part of that community we are active members who strive to give back. Here are just a few Levy Dental Group projects:
Saturday, January 21, 2012 will be our sixth annual Levy Dental Group Cares for Kids. Part of Give Kids a Smile Day.
Children's Dental Day: Every year our office run a free dental day for area needy children whose families cannot afford dental care- We treate children doing routine cleanings, fillings and root canals-A van from the State HUSKY program is available each year to offer advice to parents about state assistance.
Smiles for Life: Our yearly "smiles for life" campaign - in conjunction with The Ronald McDonald House - provides teeth whitening at a reduced fee and 50% of monies raised benefits the Ronald McDonald House in New Haven and the remainder goes to Garth Brooks Children’s Charities. Also, we sell Smiley Faces for in the office, have walk-a-thons, and a dinner at Portofino's restaurant.
Our Annual teeth whitening program runs from March 1 - June 30.
One of our our hygienists, Peggy Dercole, travels to the Dominican Republic for a week with the Crown Council, a national group of dental offices, to volunteer time to treat underprivileged people. The vision she brings back helps us better understand the needs of the many unfortunate people in the world, both in the United States and in other countries, who lack and need dental hygiene care.
Our patient, Gerry Wright, is very involved with the returning veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan - Surprisingly many veterans return and find they are homeless because of divorce, losing their homes while they are serving, etc. We participate in his annual coat drive and collect many coats for men and women and donate them to upstate needy veterans’ home.
We participate in Project Homeless Connect providing free dental services to the homeless and those in need.
Our office collects, with the help of our patients, non-perishable food items for a local food kitchen.
When Katrina hit the southern states, we collected dental products and toiletries for the victims.
We are continuously collecting old cell phones for a woman’s domestic violence center, where the phones are reset to dial 9-1-1.
Through our involvement with The Ronald McDonald House, we participate in their annual "Trees of Hope". Our office decorates a tree that is then raffled off with all proceeds going to the House. This is a great way for all of us to get into the holiday spirit, knowing that our tree is going to a great cause. Our year-long commitment to this cause also includes collecting soda can tabs (which they sell as scrap aluminum) and periodic walk-a-thons.
